I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Longwood College in 1997.  Go Lancers! After several years working as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I realized my love for working with children;particularly students with disabilities.  Thus, my career in education began in Amelia County when I began teaching special education at Amelia County High School in 2000.  In 2003, I earned my Master's of Education degree in Special Education - Curriculum and Instruction from Longwood University.  Eight years in the classroom led me to become the Special Education Coordinator at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels for several years before being named Assistant Principal at Amelia County Elementary School in August 2012.  With the belief that being a life-long learner is important,  I returned to school in 2012 to pursue a doctorate degree.  My goal was accomplished in May 2015 after earning the degree of Doctor of Education from The Virginia State University.  Go Trojans!
