Students Study and Prepare For Benchmark Testing

With benchmark testing starting this week, our students have been hard at work studying and preparing in creative and inventive ways. These differentiated study and review activities not only help students ready themselves for tests, but they also expose students to new study methods and learning styles that will help them figure out what strategies work best for them. In Mrs. Watley’s classes, students used digital resources and manipulatives to review for their reading benchmarks and worked in a variety grouped settings (individual, pairs, or small group).
In Mrs. Shuart and Mrs. Weaver’s Algebra classes, students reviewed how to simplify radicals and were given the choice of four different ways to do so. Some students completed a scavenger hunt, while others completed either a Clue activity, a person puzzle, or a matrix activity sheet. Students worked independently, in pairs, or in a group of three to complete their work. They enjoyed having the ability to choose the review that worked best for them.
