ACMS intermediate and advanced choir and band in conjunction with the ACHS choir and band performed a concert in the ACHS auditorium on Thursday, October 19th, 2023. The choir performed "Arise and Greet the Day," "Momiji" (in Japanese), and "California Dreamin' " as made popular by the Mamas and Papas. The band performed "Starship One," "Imperium," and "Nighthawk."
🏐Fans packed the house for the final volleyball game of the 2023 season. The night began by honoring the 8th grade athletes who participated in fall sports; both golf and volleyball. Our lady raiders finished strong! A huge thank you to the families for supporting these young people, and to the student section for showing up and cheering them on up to the very last serve! 📣

Ms. LaVecchia, ACMS school counselor, has discussed information regarding Appomattox Regional Governor's School with all 8th grade students. Today, interested 8th graders were invited to attend an informational presentation by the ARGS student recruiter. Ms. LaVecchia has application packets available for any interested current 8th grader. Applications are due to her by 11/30/23. https://www.args.us/admission-information

💛#StudentTreasures work hard day in and day out to show their ACMSPride.💚 Here's a glimpse at a few learning opportunities that students have been caught participating in over the past several days. 💛 Pictured are students modeling and solving multi step equations with Algebra tiles and pictorial representations, creating picture collages to show what motivates them, speed dating to review for benchmark tests, beginning a writing project for book character pumpkin illustrations, and sorting text features for non fiction texts.💚

In his position of School Resource Officer, Mr. Owens pitches in wherever he sees a need. From monitoring hallways and lunches, assisting with classrooms and students, helping with investigations, and maintaining the security of our building through daily perimeter monitoring, Mr. Owens has quickly become a valuable resource to our ACMS team.
ACMS #StudentTreasures showed up during the month of September. The 6th grade had the highest percentage of students in attendance. They will be rewarded with ice cream this coming "Fun Friday".
